The various ‘families’ of expansion joint type covered by the constituent parts of ETAG 032 and their corresponding equivalent generic joint types as previously described in the withdrawn BD 33 Document are provided below.

The information provided below is a simplified information guide based on the CD357 Bridge expansion joints Standards document.

Previous ‘Type’ categories are no longer used within the standard but are noted for reference.

Part 2: Buried Expansion Joint

(Type 1 – Buried joint under continuous surfacing)

(Type 2 – Asphaltic Plug Joint)

Part 4: Nosing Expansion Joint

(Type 3 – Nosing joint with poured sealant)
